Richmond Stakes Group Two

                                             Richmond Stakes Group Two

Ivawood- Mega talented son of Zebedee who is unbeaten in two and comes here off a 3 length romp in the Group Two July Stakes at Newmarket. Burdened with a 3lb penalty for that success, but looks every inch the juvenile champ in waiting and more than capable of the giving the weight away to his overmatched rivals

Ahlan Emarati- Only fourth in the Vintage stakes yesterday and in the unlikely event he doubles up he will have to improve in order to take a hand

Doc Charm- Northern raider trained by Keith Dalgleish, who is having a stellar season with his juveniles, operating at a 23% SR. Bumped into the Coventry winner on debut, but had todays rival Jungle Cat 11 lengths in arrears, before bolting in by six lengths on his second start. He looks an insulting price and could well gain a podium position

Fox Trotter- Rare winning debutant for Brian Meehan and delivered in taking fashion, when readily brushing aside an odds on rival who had shown useful form on debut. This is obviously much deeper, but he looks a nice sort and shouldn't be underestimated

Jungle Cat- Only managed third behind Doc Charm on debut, but has improved dramatically since and arrives here on the back of two solid placed efforts in Group company. Second to Ivawood last time in the July and better off at the weights today, but has no real pretensions of beating that rival. Certainly no superstar and possible that his two tough races may have left a mark and he looks readily opposable

Louie De Palma- Unbeaten in two and a well backed winner last time in a nursery at Ascot off of a mark of 79 and although the runner up has since obliged off of a mark of 83 he still looks well up against it in this company

Moonraker- Starspangledbanner Colt who hails from a family of group class sprinters and himself looked a horse of immense promise when winning on debut in a warm maiden at Ascot in early May. Hasn't been sighted since however and it will take a good training performance for him to be involved at the finish today. Gets Ryan Moore on board and is undeniably a talented sort, but there are just too many question marks to recommend him

Sixty- Ran well behind Jungle Cat on debut and made no mistake in a weak enough Salisbury maiden second up. That form is a long way short of what will be required here and an outside chance at best

Surewecan- Was well beaten on his latest start when attempting to give Osaila lumps of weight in a Novices Stakes at Doncaster. There was no shame in that but he was given a rating of 96 after that run and that is likely how good he is. Big ask

Verrdict- Priced up as a one horse race and that is likely how it will play out. Ivawood is the most impressive juvenile seen in the UK this season and he should be able to give 3lbs and a hefty beating to his rivals here. Moonraker impressed on debut but hasn't been since and better bets for the places may be Fox Trotter, who was a rare debut winner for his trainer and Doc Hay, who finished ahead of Jungle Cat on debut and impressed in victory since.

1 Ivawood
2 Fox Trotter
3 Doc Charm
