Richmond Stakes Group Two

                                             Richmond Stakes Group Two

Ivawood- Mega talented son of Zebedee who is unbeaten in two and comes here off a 3 length romp in the Group Two July Stakes at Newmarket. Burdened with a 3lb penalty for that success, but looks every inch the juvenile champ in waiting and more than capable of the giving the weight away to his overmatched rivals

Ahlan Emarati- Only fourth in the Vintage stakes yesterday and in the unlikely event he doubles up he will have to improve in order to take a hand

Doc Charm- Northern raider trained by Keith Dalgleish, who is having a stellar season with his juveniles, operating at a 23% SR. Bumped into the Coventry winner on debut, but had todays rival Jungle Cat 11 lengths in arrears, before bolting in by six lengths on his second start. He looks an insulting price and could well gain a podium position

Fox Trotter- Rare winning debutant for Brian Meehan and delivered in taking fashion, when readily brushing aside an odds on rival who had shown useful form on debut. This is obviously much deeper, but he looks a nice sort and shouldn't be underestimated

Jungle Cat- Only managed third behind Doc Charm on debut, but has improved dramatically since and arrives here on the back of two solid placed efforts in Group company. Second to Ivawood last time in the July and better off at the weights today, but has no real pretensions of beating that rival. Certainly no superstar and possible that his two tough races may have left a mark and he looks readily opposable

Louie De Palma- Unbeaten in two and a well backed winner last time in a nursery at Ascot off of a mark of 79 and although the runner up has since obliged off of a mark of 83 he still looks well up against it in this company

Moonraker- Starspangledbanner Colt who hails from a family of group class sprinters and himself looked a horse of immense promise when winning on debut in a warm maiden at Ascot in early May. Hasn't been sighted since however and it will take a good training performance for him to be involved at the finish today. Gets Ryan Moore on board and is undeniably a talented sort, but there are just too many question marks to recommend him

Sixty- Ran well behind Jungle Cat on debut and made no mistake in a weak enough Salisbury maiden second up. That form is a long way short of what will be required here and an outside chance at best

Surewecan- Was well beaten on his latest start when attempting to give Osaila lumps of weight in a Novices Stakes at Doncaster. There was no shame in that but he was given a rating of 96 after that run and that is likely how good he is. Big ask

Verrdict- Priced up as a one horse race and that is likely how it will play out. Ivawood is the most impressive juvenile seen in the UK this season and he should be able to give 3lbs and a hefty beating to his rivals here. Moonraker impressed on debut but hasn't been since and better bets for the places may be Fox Trotter, who was a rare debut winner for his trainer and Doc Hay, who finished ahead of Jungle Cat on debut and impressed in victory since.

Vintage Stakes Group Two

                                                    Vintage Stakes Group Two

Ahlan Emarati- Ready winner on debut at Bath and has followed that up with two creditable placed efforts in Group company since, his second to Kool Kompany having been well franked by that horse taking the Papin on his next start. As likeable as he is, he is no megastar and it would a touch disappointing were he to prove good enough. Looks short enough in the market, and opposable

Chadic- Won impressively from the front at the third time of asking at Ayr but the form is modest in the context of this race. Jockey bookings suggest he is the weaker of the Johnston pair and looks to have it all to do

Dr No- Richard Hannon trained individual who was all the rage on debut before running disappointingly at Nottingham. Has proved that form to be all wrong since however, firstly when besting the July Stakes runner up at the same venue and then with a solid 7th in the Coventry Stakes. That form has a solid look to it, but it must be significant that he has been passed over by Richard Hughes. Another who looks tight at the current prices

Faithful Creek- Bushranger Colt who is a half brother to last years useful juvenile Peter Mac. Has been improving for the experience and won in decent style last time out. However he will need to take another massive leap forward to take this

Highland Reel- Aiden O Brien raider who arrives here with a massive reputation following a twelve length romp at Gowran Park on his second start. That performance was visually impressive and the third has since downed his highly rated stable mate John F Kennedy. The drop in trip is a slight concern, he hails from a family choc full of top grade middle distance performers in Australia, as is the fact he takes up his engagement here. This isn't a race that O Brien targets very often and Duke Of Marmalade was the last top class horse he ran here in 2006. He was beaten before proving himself a superstar and it would be no surprise to see this horse follow a similar path. May well prove a class above but all things considered he cannot be a play at the odds

Pallister- Improving son of Punctilious, who comes here searching for a hat trick. Both of those wins were over six furlongs and very likely the extra distance today will bring out further improvement. He done plenty wrong when winning last time and he will need to be less green if he is to prosper over this course. However looks to have plenty of latent talent and looks overpriced for a trainer who targets this meeting and won this with the brilliant Shamardal in 2004

Room Key- A winner at Salisbury on debut before finishing second in a Novices Stakes on his second start at the same venue. The winner of that contest has since been well beaten in a listed contest and he will need to improve plenty to take this

Tupi- 100k son of Tamayuz who looked a colt with a bright future when winning on debut at Sandown. The form of those in behind has been mixed but he is still unexposed and is the choice of Richard Hughes, who is looking for a fifth consecutive win in this contest. Looks to have been saved for this contest and rates a big danger to the favourite.

Verdict- A race that revolves around Highland Reel, who looked every inch the Ballydoyle superstar when romping home be a dozen lengths on his second start. It is therefore quite surprising he ends up here with his trainer having never won the race and not having had a representative since Cornish in 2008. The team that have farmed this race of late, winning the last four renewals, appear to have the main danger in the unbeaten Tupi. He has only won a maiden, but was well fancied for that race and won it in impressive style. He looks a great chance of making five in a row for the East Everleigh outfit. Pallister is bred to be useful and hails from a stable who make good at this meeting and he looks overpriced and could reach the frame

Molecomb Stakes Group Three

                                               Molecomb Stakes Group Three

Beacon- Highclere owned colt who arrives here bidding for a four timer. Was very impressive when slamming todays rival Mukhmal by four lengths in a listed event last time and team Hannon have been responsible for three of the past five winners of this race. Looks the one to beat, but is priced up accordingly

Burning The Clocks- Three race maiden who is rated 79. Needs to improve a couple of stone if he is to take this

Cotai Glory- Finished last at 50/1 in a moderate Nottingham maiden on debut but now finds himself rated 104 after four starts. Got within 1.25 lengths of the mighty Limato last time and although that likely flattered him, it was still a highly commendable display. The main threat to Beacon on ratings and appears the value play at the current odds

Dougal- Son of Zebedee, winner of this race in these colours in 2010, who has won two of his four starts to date. However he was outclassed in the July Stakes last time and even with the assistance of Ryan Moore he looks to have it all to do in this company

Fast Act- Earned some decent prize money in the Super Sprint when third to runaway winner Tiggy Wiggy. Although only officially rated 88, this race lacks depth and he may well be good enough to reach the podium

Mukhmal- Impressive winner on debut at Mussleburgh, before defying the widest draw in the Lily Agnes on his second start. That marked him down as a colt to follow, but the wheels have fallen off somewhat on his two most recent starts. Four lengths behind Beacon last time and no reason why that form will be reversed here

Union Rose- Second in the Windsor Castle at Ascot on her penultimate start but firmly put in her place by Beacon last time. Unlikely to be good enough

Spirit Of Xian- Expensive daughter of Kodiac, who won on debut and ran with credit on her next two starts. Could only manage sixth in a French Group Three last time and looks up against it

Verdict- This looks a weak renewal and in Beacon has a short priced favourite. He is well worth his place at the head of the market, having rattled off a hat trick and readily dismissed todays rival Mukhmal in a listed contest last time. However he has been well found in the market and makes minimal appeal at odds on. Cotai glory is also rapidly improving and ran into a very useful tool last time over six furlongs. He rates the value play to upstage the short priced favourite. Of the rest in a field lacking depth Fast Act could replicate his finishing position from the Super Sprint

Verdict
1 Cotai Glory
2 Beacon
3 Fast Act

Titanic Belfast Winkfield Stakes Listed

                                          Titanic Belfast Winkfield Stakes Listed

Diaz- A winner of one of his three starts, and has ran with credit on each trip to the racecourse, however the form of those contests haven't proved strong in the context of this race. His trainer continues to fire in the winners in this age group [SR OF 21%] but with an OR of 92 potentially flattering him, he looks up against it in this company

Disegno- Well related Fastnet Rock colt who represents the hottest Trainer/Jockey combination in Britain right now. Showed up well on debut when 3rd over an inadequate 6 furlongs at Newmarket, before improving for the extra furlong when readily taking a Kempton maiden. The form of that race looks underwhelming, but he has the potential to rate much better than that and must not be underestimated

Kodi Bear- Finished a close up 2nd to the subsequent Coventry favourite Adaay on debut before finishing ahead of that horse at Ascot when placing 5th beaten 2.5 lengths behind the Wow Signal. There are mixed messages from the Coventry form so far, but it was obviously still a run full of credit on only his 2nd start. Clive Cox's juveniles have really picked up of late and he is a credible contender

Muhaarar- A half Brother to crack Meydan sprinter Tamaathul and looks a useful Colt in the making himself. An impressive winner on debut, where he had Royal Ascot runner up Union Rose well in arrears. He then performed with immense credit when 3rd next time in a red hot July Stakes. The winner that day is the most impressive 2yo seen in the UK this year and the runner up is rated 106, so the form is rock solid. Could well improve for the extra furlong here and he rates as the one to beat

Peacock- Stoutly bred Paco Boy colt who had 4 subsequent winners, including of the Chesham, behind him when taking a 6 furlong maiden at Newmarket on debut. Was well fancied in the betting that day and showed a willing attitude to win snugly in the end. Will likely improve for the step up in trip and his fearsome team have taken the race in the last 2 years. Looks the main threat to the selection

Ustinov- A ready winner on his 2nd start, having ran well in a useful maiden on debut. However he placed dead last in the July Stakes and it takes a leap of faith to see him winning here

Verdict- A cracking listed contest in which Muhaarar can add his name to a roll of honour which includes Ravens Pass and Toranado in recent years. On a line with Jungle Cat he is very well matched with Kodi Bear but there are reasons to believe he can prove better than that rival, with the step up in trip likely to suit. His run in the July was also his 1st in 2 months and he will likely improve from it. His main danger is the well regarded Peacock, whose debut win at Newmarket is working out well. The Hannon team are looking for a hat trick in this race and he has to be accounted for. Michael Stoute doesn't over face his juveniles and the fact he pitches Disegno into Listed company suggests he is a capable type. He appeals as the best of the rest

2 Peacock
3 Disegno

Princess Margaret Group Three

                                                  Princess Margaret Group Three

Accipter- Was a rare winning debutant for Chris Wall when she belied odds of 33/1 at Kempton in beating subsequent winner Panda Spirit. She then stepped up in class when finishing 5th in a muddling listed contest at Newmarket, before bouncing back when winning a novices stakes at Chepstow over five furlongs last time. The runner up that day has won a nursery off 86 since and she has to be respected

Explosive Lady- The first winner for Alfred Nobel when hacking up in a Nottingham maiden. That was a fine introduction and the trainer is having a strong season with his two year olds. But will still  need to step up a chunk if she is too take this

Goldcrest- From a fast family and put herself forward as a useful type when besting a good yardstick when cruising in at Newbury on her second start. Was very well backed that day and her trainer is having a stellar season with his juveniles. In a race that lacks depth she is a place contender

Muraaqaba- From a fantastic family and looked a filly to follow herself when winning a Newmarket maiden by over 3 lengths on her only start to date. She was extremely professional that day but still should improve for the experience. If she does, she rates the one to beat for her in form trainer

Osaila- The form pick having followed up her 5th in the Albany with a facile victory in a Doncaster novice stakes on her last start. The runner up that day is a useful sort and she needs to be taken very seriously

Pastoral Girl- Bred to be speedy and showed promise when finishing 6 lengths down to useful types on her first two starts. On the back of those displays she went off odds on last time when finishing behind Mary McPhee who was outclassed at listed level on Thursday and looks to have to all to do

Rosies Premiere- 55k Showcasing filly who has shown useful form on her three starts to date. Likely she ran into a very promising type at Chester last time and with Hughes up could outrun her likely odds. However it is still difficult to see her being good enough to take the top prize

Tongue Twista- Two race maiden but showed useful form when beaten less than 5 lengths in the Cherry Hinton on her last start. That was a strange race and she is very likely to have been flattered by her proximity to the winner that day. Her trainer averages less than one 2yo winner a season and he is unlikely to add to that record here

Verdict- Not a great race for the grade and the filly who appeals as having the most potential is Muraaqaba. She is a half sister to three horses who achieved a 100 OR and she appeals as a type who could reach that level based on her debut win. Osaila ran with immense credit at Royal Ascot and followed that up with an impressive win in a small field Novice Stakes last time and she rates as the main danger. Of the rest Accipter appeals most and may be a touch overpriced due to her low key connections with Goldcrest another place contender

2 Osaila
3 Accipter

July Stakes Group Two

                                                                        July Stakes Group Two

A Group Two Juvenile contest which has suffered from a few barren years of late with Arcano the only winner of the race who has has achieved victory at the highest level in the past decade. This years renewal will likely change that and it looks a packed field of untapped potential, with six of the runners coming here having won last time and four defending unbeaten records

Angelic Lord- Was a well backed winner on debut at Ripon, when besting two useful rivals, over the minimum distance before running with immense credit in the Coventry. He finished 6th that day and was less than 3 lengths off the winner The Wow Signal. I wasn't overly convinced by the depth of the Coventry field this year and this looks a stronger race. Looks up against it in this field

Belardo- Bred to need a trip in time, but showed plenty of pace when sauntering clear of overmatched rivals at Yarmouth on debut. The market told plenty that day, and this is a colt connections have obviously got a lot of time for. Much respected

Dougal- Probably the best of the magic roundabout named horses for owner Julie Wood and arrives here seeking a hat trick but looks the Hannon second string on jockey bookings and he has plenty to find to take a hand

George Bowen- 100k son of Dark Angel who was well backed on debut when winning narrowly at Carlisle. He showed a good attitude that day and battled back when headed a furlong out. Should come on a fair bit for that run and could show a bit of cheek at massive odds

Ivawood- The most impressive son of Zebedee seen on a racetrack so far and looked a colt destined for the top when hosing in on debut at Sandown over five furlongs. He never came off the bridle that day and the 2nd and the 4th have added depth to the form by winning next time out. He rates as the one to beat for the Hannon stable who have won this contest 3 of the past 4 years

Jungle Cat- The form pick of the race who arrives here having finished 3rd in the Coventry Stakes last time. He only went down 1.75 lengths that day, having been beaten 20 by the winner on debut at Ayr. Has a solid enough profile and his trainers two year olds are in sparkling form, but it would be disappointing if one of the unexposed types didn't have his measure today. Looks far too short and readily opposed

Lightening Stride- Second string to Qatars bow but looks out of his depth following two 5th place finishes, the latter in a novices event at Kempton. Merely making up the numbers

Mind Of Madness- Son of Azamour who was a supremely impressive winner of a Newmarket conditions race on his racecourse bow. That performance marked him down as a juvenile to follow but the wheels have fallen off a touch since. He was readily put in his place by Adaay next time at Yarmouth before running back to back at the Royal meeting. Firstly running down the field behind American speedster Hootenanny in the Windsor Castle before seemingly bouncing back
when finishing runner up in the Norfolk. Possible he was flattered by the way the race was run that day and hard to rate the form of that race too highly anyway, with the 4th and 6th both well beaten at Listed level next time. Looks unlikely to give trainer David Brown a 2nd win in the race

Mubtaghaa- A son of Acclamation who is the choice of Paul Hanagan following his excellent 3rd placing in the Windsor Castle. Was unable to go with Hootenanny that day but finished well from the rear to finish 3rd. The limitations of the runner up hold down the form somewhat, but he is certainly a useful colt. Place potential

Muhaarar- A half brother to the crack Meydan sprinter Tamathuul and bred to be a fair bit sharper than him, having been sired by Oasis Dream. Looked a juvenile to follow when cruising in by 4 lengths on debut and the 3rd that day went on to finish one place ahead of his aforementioned stable mate in the Windsor Castle. Certainly looks to have plenty of ability and although it is a concern he hasn't seen since that debut win 59 days ago he needs respecting

The Great War- The banker of the royal meeting for many and he came with a sky high reputation, being a $1million son of super sire War Front and having not broken out of a canter in winning two five furlong contests in Ireland. However it all went wrong in the Norfolk and he could only muster a hugely disappointing 5th place. Looked out on his feet at halfway that day and it would take a leap of faith to have full confidence in him here, even allowing for his trainers red hot form of late

Ustinov- A big eye catcher when 3rd on debut behind Winslow in a deep maiden at Haydock, before making no mistake next time when coming with a withering run from the rear to readily take a Nottingham maiden. His trainer is not adverse to tilting at windmills but this colt who hails from a cracking family certainly warrants his place in the field

Verdict- A belting renewal of the July Stakes and it is one full of untapped potential. The selection is the 220k son of Zebedee, Ivawood who made a deep impression when winning a decent Sandown maiden with the minimum of fuss on his racecourse debut. The betting that day suggested the stable knew what they had and he can take the leap from maiden company to Group 2 in his stride. Two other debut winners in the form of Belardo and Muhaarar rate as the main dangers

1 Ivawood
2 Muhaarar
3 Belardo
